Here's a quick look at how the Chase drivers fared in Race 3 of the Chase at Kansas:
1. Jimmie Johnson (-, up 1) Finished 2nd: Any more questions about Vader's strength in the Chase? Yeah, didn't think so.
2. Denny Hamlin (-8, down 1) Finished 12th: No more out-of-the-top-10 finishes for Hamlin if he wants to win this thing.
3. Kevin Harvick (-30, up 2) Finished 3rd: Harvick is back to running the way he did in the regular season, and he's within striking distance of the top.
4. Carl Edwards (-53, up 2) Finished 6th: More of the same for Edwards, who is quietly putting together the best stretch of races by any driver but has nothing gaudy to show for it.
5. Jeff Gordon (-58, up 3) Finished 5th: Gordon has another strong run with a solid finish. He's still in the hunt, but he's going to need to continue to stay close.
6. Kurt Busch (-70, down 2) Finished 13th: Unspectacular finishes don't get it done for one of the guys who could have challenged for the title.
7. Kyle Busch (-80, down 4) Finished 21st: His battle with David Reutimann might well end up costing him the entire Chase. Hope it was worth it, Kyle.
8. Greg Biffle (-85, up 1) Finished 1st: Biffle did exactly what he needed to do, winning the race and putting himself back within sight of the lead. Can he sustain? He'll need help.
9. Jeff Burton (-101, down 2) Finished 18th: He ran well for much of the day but faded late. Triple-digits down at this point means dimming chances for a title run.
10. Tony Stewart (-127, unchanged) Finished 4th: That Loudon gas debacle continues to haunt Stewart; one more lap there and you could just about remove the zero from his standings position.
11. Matt Kenseth (-149, unchanged) Finished 7th: Kenseth continues his reliable run round and round and round and round the track.
12. Clint Bowyer (-252, unchanged) Finished 15th: We're getting to the point where even those extra 150 points deducted from Bowyer won't much matter.
